Alteration 1Changing the space by deleting all the existing people and introducing other human figures to impact the space by changing the narrative.
Original painting and diagrammatic reading
The original painting presents an ambiguous view where various narratives may be interpreted different according to each individual. The diagrammatic reading is my personal interpretation of the narrative of the space by analyzing the foreground, mid ground, and background of the space as well as the details the human figures that hints a certain narrative. In addition, the narrative of this painting that I interpreted in the original painting is a utilitarian space where people come by to do their regular daily routine/ household chores; today, judging from the cloud and lighting, a storm is approaching while the background reveals light, which symbolizes the curious hope unknown as the stairs ascend mysteriously.

Alteration 1
Changing the atmosphere of the painting through adding in foreign object of a dome and adjusting the lighting to being dimmer in order to create a new narrative to the painting,

Original painting and diagrammatic reading
The original painting shows ambiguous narrative of an abandon part of town where people standing on the land are people who are exiled and are looking back to the prosperous side of the land. Another interpretation would be where the empty side is the residential side where people have to cross over daily in order to get their daily needs since the other side is the working/ producing side of town.

Alteration 2
Creating a narrative by attempting to create a new world by adding a dome to create a question between the inside and the outside like the people under this dome is in an underwater world controlled by an unknown outsider.
Alteration 3
Changing the atmosphere by adjusting the lighting to being darker and the saturation to being low and adding gravestones and deleting the water running from the statue to change a space to an abandoned graveyard where all you can hear is the sound of the wind howling.
Alteration 4
Changing the atmosphere to being more enclosed through using the stamp tool and increasing the arch height to portray a massive structure that suddenly becomes very dominant in the painting.
Alteration 5
Similar to alteration 4, but increasing only one of the arch's height while still leaving space between the first arch and the second arch to create a distortion in the scale of the painting.
Alteration 6
Changing the atmosphere through trying to suggest another type of enclosed space beyond the arch, which contributes in creating another narrative.
Alteration 7
Changing the atmosphere by adding in more people in various actions to create a narrative that opposes alteration 1 where the pope seems to be real and well-respected. Conversely, for this alteration, it is either the pope is ignored by other people, which illustrates a mad world or the pope is a fake pope resulting in people ignoring him.
Alteration 8
Changing the atmosphere by deleting all the people present in the original painting, which contributes to the narrative changing to be an isolated space where all you can hear is the sound of the water dripping from the statue.
Alteration 9
Creating a new narrative through deleting most part of the painting while still leaving a part in and adding another scene behind to create a narrative of a ruin surrounded by a body of water.
Alteration 10
Changing the atmosphere acoustically by deleting the water dripping from the statue and adding the orchestra at the center of the painting.
Alteration 11
Changing the atmosphere through deleting the foreground and background and adding a new scene to create a new narrative.

Alteration 12
Changing the atmosphere through adjusting the light and changing the sky in the background to portray a narrative of a bright, sunny day.

Alteration 2
Changing the atmosphere by deleting the body of water and creating a new narrative to the space by creating a desert
Alteration 3
Changing the atmosphere through adjusting the light to being very dark and deleting the people to create a narrative of an abandoned space

Alteration 4
Changing the atmosphere through adjusting the light, contrast, and saturation to create a scene similar to when the sunsets and changing the color of the body of water to being more fantasy-like.
Alteration 5
Changing most part of the painting by deleting everything except the slightest quality of the sand of the empty side and adding a new scene to the rest of the painting.
Alteration 6
Creating a new narrative through changing the lighting and saturation to play around with the change of the period of time to being more modern. From the original painting of being somewhat considered a long time ago, this alteration creates a narrative of a tourist area similar to Venice where all the colors and very bright like it belongs in a poster.
3D modeling
Modeling the space based on the capriccio painting and adding in people and surroundings to create a certain narrative to the painting.

Overall, the method that I used is the deleting and adding of people and scenes to change the narrative of the space. By adding a new scene or even adding one foreign person to the painting, it completely change the atmosphere of the painting significantly. This shows how the element of using people has great impact in creating space, which this idea is carry on to my next phase.
