Alteration 1.
I altered the brightness of the picture to be darker and deleted people out to create a desperate and neglected atmosphere.
I also added some light to the house at the background to create a new focus point to make people aware of the house because in the original picture, there are a lot of focus point at the front such as people and the remains and we would not aware of the house in the background.
Original Painting & Diagrammatic reading
The artist used complementary color to create a bright and lively atmosphere.
The place might a sacred space because of the stucco on the top of the column which represents people doing some kind of ceremony, and there is a coffin, basin and podium, which the ram head on the podium is one of the sacrificial ornament.
There are also uncommon objects in the space which is the corinthian capital, which is strange because the columns that used in this building are doric columns and the entasis of the column next to the corinthian capital has got spiral lines, which it should be in vertical lines.

The scale of people seems to be wrong, i drew circles on top of the people to create human's ergonoms and adjusted all lines to change positions as they are all standing straight and drew pink-dashed lines to the vanishing point, the man with a stone and a woman washing clothes seems to be taller than a man and a woman on the right, as they are standing further, they should be shorter but in this picture, all of their heights are quite similar.

The space in the original picture gives a cramped atmosphere, the space seems to be really closed, so I deleted the wall at the top to create more open space.
Original Painting & Diagrammatic reading

The hashed purple lines represents the indoor area and without hash lines is the outdoor area.
The arch at the foreground creates framing to this picture.
The lion sculptures at the steps represents nobility and courage, which is commonly use in palace.
The elegant costume and dignified posture of a man and a woman on the left presents that they are noblemen, the plain costume and humble posture of the man in the middle and a lady at the stairs presents that they are servants and the prestige posture and black color costume of the man on the right presents that he is a knight.
