Capriccio Alterations

Alteration 1.
I altered the brightness of the picture to be darker and deleted people out to create a desperate and neglected atmosphere.
I also added some light to the house at the background to create a new focus point to make people aware of the house because in the original picture, there are a lot of focus point at the front such as people and the remains and we would not aware of the house in the background.

Original Painting & Diagrammatic reading
The artist used complementary color to create a bright and lively atmosphere.
The place might a sacred space because of the stucco on the top of the column which represents people doing some kind of ceremony, and there is a coffin, basin and podium, which the ram head on the podium is one of the sacrificial ornament.
There are also uncommon objects in the space which is the corinthian capital, which is strange because the columns that used in this building are doric columns and the entasis of the column next to the corinthian capital has got spiral lines, which it should be in vertical lines.
The scale of people seems to be wrong, i drew circles on top of the people to create human's ergonoms and adjusted all lines to change positions as they are all standing straight and drew pink-dashed lines to the vanishing point, the man with a stone and a woman washing clothes seems to be taller than a man and a woman on the right, as they are standing further, they should be shorter but in this picture, all of their heights are quite similar.

Alteration 1.
The space in the original picture gives a cramped atmosphere, the space seems to be really closed, so I deleted the wall at the top to create more open space.

Original Painting & Diagrammatic reading
The drawing obviously shows layers; foreground, mid-ground and background.
The hashed purple lines represents the indoor area and without hash lines is the outdoor area.
The arch at the foreground creates framing to this picture.
The lion sculptures at the steps represents nobility and courage, which is commonly use in palace.
The elegant costume and dignified posture of a man and a woman on the left presents that they are noblemen, the plain costume and humble posture of the man in the middle and a lady at the stairs presents that they are servants and the prestige posture and black color costume of the man on the right presents that he is a knight.

Yoi's Presentation :)

Architectural Fantasy, 1784 : Clerisseau Charles Louis (1721-1820)
He is well known of painting antique/ruins architecture
Technique : Gouache, pen and brown wash on cardboard.

The original painting has a cheerful atmosphere, so i adjust the color to be darker and give a desperate and lonely atmosphere. I also add some light to windows in the background to give a hopeful feeling.
So this painting gives a sad, desperate and hopeful atmosphere at the same time.

#1 Adjusting the brightness of the photo and changing background to be a desert. Creating a hotter atmosphere, people seems to be very tired.
#2 Adding no photo sign to created a surreal atmosphere.

#3 Changing the sky to be pink to create a duck and remove two people on the left, so it creates a romantic atmosphere.

#4 Adjust the sky color to be gloomy like it's going to rain, and people in the picture seems hurry to go home.

#5 Shifting people around to create a surreal atmosphere.

#6 Change the background to be a forest and adding fog to create a mysterious atmosphere, it seems like this building is hidden somewhere.
I tried to rotate the building around to see the building in the different view.

View of the Brera Palace in Milan, 1829 : Giovanni Migliara (1785-1837)
His style was historic, medieval and romantic.
Technique : Graphite and watercolor.

The original painting gives a cramped atmosphere, the space seems very small.
So i deleted the wall at the top, and the atmosphere seems to be more open.

#1 I tried to make the picture brighter, so make the space look bigger.

#2 Adjusting the brightness to be darker, to make the space looks narrower.

#3 Deleting 3 people and make the picture to be pink, so it creates a romantic atmosphere.

#4 Delete all the people here and adjust the light to be darker and greener, so it creates a spooky atmosphere.

#5 Delete the arch and added some trees instead, to create a brighter and bigger space.

Architectural Fantasy : Clerisseau Charles-Louis

 Architectural Fantasy : Clerisseau Charles-Louis

ORINAL PHOTO : This picture depicts the routines of the villagers at the abandoned building.
The atmosphere in this picture is tranquil and at the same time full of vitality.

 1. I tried to change the time from morning to evening by changing the color of the sky

2. I tried to change the location of this place by changing the background.

3. I tried to move this building up from the ground upwards the mountain by replacing the pond with a cliff.

4. I tried to make this place looks more scary and desperate by changing these people to be spirits.

5. I changed the pond to be a hot spring by adding some steam.

6. I tried to make this normal pond to be a magic pond by adding some glitters, so this make the atmosphere to be sacred and the people seems to be hopeful.

7. I tried to changing the reality to be a mock-up scene by adding a few lines, so these people would look like marionettes on the stage.

8. I changed the background to be a little bit darker so this make the atmosphere to be gloomy and desperate. And people seems to be more hurried than in the original photo.

9. I added a no photography sign on the wall (left side of the picture) so it seems like this painting was painted recently.

10. I added red ropes into this picture pretending this place as a museum, and this painting was painted recently.

11. I tried to changing this building into a haunted place by removing all the people and darken the image. But at the same time it could be just a peaceful and clam place.
