Arnut's: Capirccio pin up

First Capirccio : "Dirck van Delen_Architectural Capriccio with Jephthah and His Daughter. 1640"

"Dirck van Delen_Architectural Capriccio with Jephthah and His Daughter. 1640", this is my capriccio and below is the diagram showing how i analyse this painting.
The main analysis of this painting is the separation of male and female. In the foreground, there is a contraction of royal family is going on in the courtyard. This is the most important event in this painting because there isn't anyone on the second floor and the background. It makes a contradiction of foreground and background as well. In term of architectural, the two building has its own representation, the palace on the right is for male and the palace on the left is for female. You can recognize by comparing the size and shape of the columns. Moreover, these two building are separated by the pond.
I used the 3d model to understand the fictional space by created the fictional plan of this painting. Also, each characters are representing as a cylinder with its own color. I want to see how one character seeing another character would be like. This is how i understand the fictional space and the atmosphere of each character.

By using the Photoshop tool we can change the atmosphere of the painting. Here, changing the background to a sunset time created a new atmosphere of the image. Moreover, the added city created a big contradiction between the foreground and background again which are the traditional architectural style and the modern city. This is impossible in reality.
The same method for this image, but this is a night time with the modern city.

I changed the materiel of the palace to create a new atmosphere, by replacing a marble to the lady building.
Position : I changed the position of the King and His Daughter to confuse a meaning of the image again.

This is a experimentation of the painting inspired by an effect in Photoshop and case study. This image show a tracing of elements. By reduction of an information and leave out the edge , so we can be more focus.
Same method, but changing the stoke to make it more like painting.

Second Capirccio : Clerisseau Charles-Louis - Architectural Fantasy -

The original painting
This is a diagram of description of this painting. Similarly, to the first capirccio but no gender involved. Here i pointed on where is the element that make the architecture ruined. People in this image kind of being lost and find their way home. There are different class of people here.
Again, to understand the fictional space i created a fictional plan of the building. Here i have the roof plan and the ground floor plan with the position of each character.

Here, i replaced the background with an image of waterfall to create a clear understanding of where is this ruined structure. So now it is just next to the waterfall. The atmosphere from being lost changed to sightseeing.

Since the architecture is ruined. I made it more danger by bending the column, make it like fallen off. People started to pointing out and feel the danger of the space.

Roof is removed, more light come flow in. Space more opening, atmosphere changed.
I added the camera men to this painting to show that whatever activities happening is not real. People is acting.
Here i combined all of the changed to create a new atmosphere.

Case study

Olafur eliasson

"Water Pandulum, 2010"
I interested in how he uses the darkness to make people focus on the object that keep blinking every second.

The effect of light, steam and darkness created his own atmosphere and people interaction.
The weather project,
When i first look at this project. i thought that there is a sphere in the center, but it's not. The emitting light object are half sphere but it attached with the reflective roof. So illusion make it look a a perfect sphere. Here, people looking upward to see themselves and they start to do some movement to see themselve, here is how people interact with the space. The sun is no heat, and the sky is no limit.

Another interesting project i found on Youtube, the house hiding its detail because it's at night. what we see is only the edge of the house of the artificial light. As the face keep changing we rarely off artificial light because of the darkness.
