Nung's Capriccio Analysis Pin Up

The Capriccio contain mainly 3 layer in the same setting. The main attention was paid to the protagonist character and  a scene happening at the middle. The two protagonist characters were assumed to represent how people were treated at the time. The color of clothes were selected to display or maybe emphasize how people were treated by the different of skin color. 

The scale of the place were grand and ornamented by sculpture and many details on the structure define it as a sacred place or even a palace. 

The giant column in the front frame the whole picture. 

The light and shadow plays important role in defining the atmosphere. 

 These are alteration of capriccio;

                         

1.Theme for this alteration is to place the front layer of 

the cappriccio to other places to change the atmosphere. 

The big one is to change it to an interior space. 

The small one on the left came from the setting that it looks like a theatre performance. 

The small on the right is to make it apart of the countryside.

2. Color skin were changed to be all black to change the meaning of the situation 

3. Add orange color to light up and also increase the tension of the chaos.

The diagram showed the perspective in the picture and light source which create the shadow that review shape and form of the place. The main characters are in the middle. The two column also frame the picture like the previous capriccio above.

There are many similarities between the two capriccios.

1. The framing by columns in the front.

2. The position of the protagonist.

3. Both of them have layers and a further space in the back.

4. The light usage: the background are white and the front are more intense.

These are alteration of this capriccio;

 

The big one, background is change to the seaport.
The small one above, the main frame and character were kept and introduce to the new background.

1. The first theme is to change the space by the background 

to see the possibilities that it might be fit to others space. 

2. The attempt to change atmosphere by shifted the light color and brightness.

3. The illusion of space. Adding the fantasy background and 

fading the structure to make it feel like you are entering another world.

 

3D modeling was trying to shifted the light source and light color on to 

object to see the different effect that it would have to the atmosphere.
