Alteration 1

The original painting is the view of an art gallery, which is full of paintings. We know that we are looking at the painting because of the frame of the paintings. The frame is the element that define what is real and what is fake. In this alteration I introduce more frame to cover the background. This would add the ambiguity into the capriccio. This make it more difficult to define what is real and what is fake. It also raises questions about how the actual space really is.

The original capriccio is the view of an art gallery. It is full of paintings and statues. The painting are mainly the architectural paintings showing different impressive spaces. In the diagram, I created my own story about the space from different elements that can be seen in the painting. It is showing my own interpretation of the painting.

Alteration 1

The original painting is the view of a ruin which looked sacred and untouchable. In this alteration I imagined what would happen when we cut a section through a buildings that we see. There actually might be many people living behind this ruin facade, and circulating around by elevators. Which is completely different from what we perceived from outside.

The original painting is the view of an architectural ruin of unknown civilization. The buildings inside the painting are mainly sacred building like temple, castle, court etc. The place where the building is situated in gives the untouchable quality to the painting. The diagram shows the detail of my interpretation of the painting.

Capriccio diagram and space analysis

 In this capriccio I strengthen the mysterious quality of the background by bringing the mist in the background to the main space.

 In this image I strengthen the abandoned space on the right of the image by adding the "white rabbit" to the image. This would raise the curiosity and imagination about of the viewer.

 In this I change the scale of the people in the image to change the spatial quality of the whole scene.

In this I make each painting into real tunnel, that could lead to variety of space.

This one is my final one, What if the whole space was just a room with perspective drawing?

The actual image has no people, which make it a very sacred space. In this i decided to added people 

to make the space an active space.

 In this I change the scene if actually this space is located on a very high mountain. To change the type of inhabitants of the space.

In this one I try to make the image of the scene during the day time, where are the clouds are gone.

 In this one I try to create a nice scene when all the buildings are glowing.

 This is the final one, this what would happen when you cut a section through the scene!!

 1) I try to bring the mist in the background into the main space, which would create mysterious
     atmosphere

 2) In this I try to make the people to look like statues

3) I try to change people into golden transparency color, to create the ghost like feeling

    to create the feeling of old memories

 4) In this I added modern people and scale down to the scale of the paintings, to change the paintings
     into real space.

 5) In this I removed all the people

 6) In this image I try to change the background into real paintings

 7) I replaced the day sky into night sky!!

 8) Here I try to make the sunlight in the painting stronger, to increase the temperature in the
     painting.

 9) I removed all the frames, and try to make each paintings connected to each other to become one.

10) These are my experimentation about different color frames.
