changing the atmosphere by making the space more of a public realm by adding more swimmers.

Original Painting & Diagrammatic Reading
Also known as 'The Pool of Bethesda', a holy pool that cures paralysis, the analysis was not done based on this knowledge but only by analyzing features in the painting and their arrangements.

Alteration 1.
turn the setting into a constructed space (theme park) instead of an actual hell.

The story of Christ's descent to save souls of the righteous has been taken into consideration while analyzing this painting. The Buddhist vision of hell is also referred to in comparison.

Architectural Fantasy by Antonio Joli

Original Painting: a post-war paradisaical gathering space composed of serenity and peace.

Manipulation 1: attempt to enhance the sacred quality of the space by altering contrast and eliminate two swimming women

Manipulation 2: elimination of all human beings in the image for an abandoned atmosphere

Manipulation 3: adding more nude women in the pool to create a more active public atmosphere

Manipulation 4: changing the state of water into stones to see physical changes

Manipulation 5: enhancing the sky and town background to shift focus point

Manipulation 6: color and contrast adjustments for a dramatic effect

Manipulation 7: depressing feelings achieved from blue color tone

Manipulation 8: change the sign to gold to add a new focus for the image and since the position of the sign is quite dominate, I continued to use it for the next manipulation

Manipulation 9: Neon club sign that says 'open' questions the content of the enclosed space. I will continue to add more 'club' elements to the image.

Manipulation 10: make the painting more paradisaical by adding some wings and holy glows to people and also soft foggy light that illuminates the space.
